Ukrainian branch of the international human rights organization Amnesty International informs about the results of the analysis of programs of nominees for Presidency.
The official site of Amnesty International in Ukraine informs about the results of analyses of pre-election programs of nominees for Presidency of Ukraine and questionnaire that 10 participants went through. One of the questions to nominees for the highest post in the state was anti-discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity and diversity promotion.
As the survey showed, it’s only Petro Poroshenko who advocates equality and anti- discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in all the spheres. Vasyl Kuybida offers to implement “illegal measures” to overcome discrimination of LGBT. Oleksandr Klimenko, Vasyl Tsushko, Anatoli Hritsenko, Yulia Timoshenko and Oleh Tiahnibok expressed negative attitude toward discrimination in general in their answers but they don’t find LGBT discrimination an actual issue, Renat Kuzmin considers to come up with the issue “irrelevant”, Andrei Hrynenko thinks that this problem doesn’t exist.
The new report “Are Human Rights first and foremost? The place of human rights in the programs of nominees for Presidency ” resulted from the analyses of the pre-election programs of nominees for the highest post in Ukraine conducted by Amnesty International in Ukraine together with Ukrainian human rights organizations – Initiative of Euromaidan SOS, Coalition for Combatting Discrimination in Ukraine, Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union, Center for Civil.
