Petro POROSHENKO Bloc wants to put into force criminal prosecution for the discrimination of LGBT
The Secretariat of the party Petro Poroshenko bloc has sent the oficial explanation of their position on non-discrimination of LGBT citizens and the equality of cicil rights. The letter was sent to the editorial ofice of the National LGBT portal of Ukraine.
The letter, signed by the Head of the Secretariat Maksym Savrasov, states that propresidential political party wants to achieve the complete membership of Ukraine in European Union.
“In adition, we view the way to EU as the tool and stimul to change the country by implementing European standarts of life, in humanitarial sphere as well”, states the message.
The presidential party pays spesific attention to the fact they stand for the implementation of comprehensive anti-discriminational law.
Petro Poroshenko bloc considers it teh duty of the state to implement the principle of equality of citizens despite their sexual orientation and other characteristics.
“Therefore, we stand for the guarantees of safety for LGBT and implementation of criminal prosecution for any kind of discrimination and discrimination based on sexual orientation as well”, – is said in the letter.
The propresidential party promises to make an effort to start a discussion in the society, which can lead to more tolerant attitude towards LGBT.
In May Amnesty International Ukraine informed that Petro Poroshenko was the only candidate to stand for equality and non-discrimination based on sexaul orienation and gender identity.
On October 14 at the TV political debates before parlamental elections, Mykola Tomenko, who is number 8 in the list of Petro Poroshenko Bloc said that his political party does not support teh legalisation of same-sex marriages.
