On the night of December 4, the Kyiv militia arrested the person suspected in the death of the head of the NGO ‘Anti-Corruption Committee of Maydan’ Olexandr Kostrenko.
The Kyiv Prosecutor’s Office investigated that it turned out to be a 21-year old capital’s resident, the flowers seller, whom the activist met on the street just before his death.
“It is important to notice that the suspect is not connected to Kostrenko’s professional activity. The tragedy was caused by the sexual promiscuity of the murdered”, – the message claims.
The militia found out that activist had been renting a flat with the 23-year old man who was absent at the time of murder. They were both homosexuals.
“Kostrenko’s new acquaintance was not aware of his sexual preferences. That is why, when after taking some shots of cognac, the activist started to insist on sexual intercourse, the man took the knife and attacked him”.
Forensic examination found out the death was caused by the open traumatic brain injury and numerous stab wounds. Based on this fact a criminal proceeding under the Part 1 of Article 115 (intentional murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine was open. As a part of the pre-trial investigation a complex of forensic examinations was appointed.
